Eluid de la Cruz, Woman Injured in Single-car Accident in Edinburg, TX
UPDATE (February 26, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify what occurred during this accident. According to these reports, 24-year-old Eluid De La Cruz and a 46-year-old woman were traveling in a westbound Nissan Altima along Chapin Street in the vicinity east of the Chapel Hill Drive intersection when the accident took place.
Authorities state that, just after passing the Chapel Hill Drive intersection, the Altima allegedly failed to control its speed and reportedly veered right, striking a cement curb and leaving the roadway before entering a grassy area. Following that, the Nissan apparently collided with metal support cables for a utility pole. This caused the vehicle to overturn, hitting two road signs and rolling an unknown number of times before reentering Chapin Road where it came to a stop facing northeast on all four wheels.
Edinburg, TX — February 4, 2024, Eluid De la Cruz and one other person were injured in a single-car accident at approximately 2:30 a.m. along Chapin Road.
According to reports, the accident took place in the vicinity of the East Chapin Road and North 24th Avenue intersection.

The causal factors that led to the crash have yet to be confirmed. Emergency personnel arrived on scene to find De la Cruz had already removed himself from the vehicle. The female, however was unconscious and entrapped in the wreckage. She had to be extracted by emergency workers before both she and De la Cruz could be transported to local medical facilities for treatment. She incurred reportedly serious injuries, while De la Cruz's injures were apparently minor.
Authorities have recommended charges of intoxication assault against De la Cruz. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
