UPDATE (September 16, 2024): Additional reports have been released which clarify some of the details as to what occurred leading up to and during this accident. According to these reports, 40-year-old Jose Jarquin and a 44-year-old woman were traveling in a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck in the right-most of the two northbound lanes of Gessner Road in the vicinity of the Hardison Lane intersection. Officials state that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the pickup changed lanes from the right-most to the left, but ended up impacting the curb of the center median, leading the truck to overturn and roll approximately three or four times. It reportedly crossed over the two southbound lanes over the course of the accident, coming to a stop resting on its wheels facing west on the side walk on the west side of the road. No additional information is currently available. The investigation remains ongoing.

With a crash like this, it's important to know how thorough authorities are being. Frankly, it would surprise people to see how often authorities are just looking for someone to blame, rather than focusing on getting answers for victims and families. That's when there are situations like one I handled not long ago involving authorities who overlooked a serious vehicle defect. They were blaming a victim for not wearing their seatbelt. It was only because the family felt that was highly unlikely and seeking out independent investigations that it was discovered the victim had a defective seatbelt. Had the family just taken what authorities said at face value, that likely never would have seen the light of day. Maybe nothing like that happened here, but it's important to let the evidence speak for itself.
