Jose Sanchez, 2 Injured in Car Accident in Starr County, TX
Starr County, TX — June 29, 2024, Jose Sanchez and two others were injured following a car accident at around 1:00 a.m. on N. Efren Ramirez Avenue.
Investigators said that the incident happened in the Roma area at North Efren Ramirez Avenue and East Polaco Street.

According to officials, 50-year-old Jose Ismael Sanchez and a 25-year-old were in a Chevy Silverado parked outside of a business along Efren Ramirez Avenue. From Efren Ramirez, authorities say that a 17-year-old was in a Nissan Altima evading officers. That vehicle apparently lost control in doing so, running off-road and crashing into Sanchez's vehicle.
Due to the collision, Sanchez and his passenger had reportedly moderate injuries. The 17-year-old reportedly was seriously injured.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Authorities say that the teenager may have been drinking, but nothing has been confirmed right now. If that allegation is true, it might explain the rash decision to evade officers. But it would also bring up the very important question: Did someone give alcohol to a teenager?
There are obviously laws against providing alcohol to minors in nearly every context, even for private citizens. But more than that, Texas also has laws that make people responsible if they serve alcohol to a minor and it contributes to an accident. That only makes it more crucial to retrace the driver's steps and find out if there's an accomplice to all of this who needs to be held accountable.
