Ltredrick Roberts, 2 Injured in Car Accident in Haltom City, TX
Haltom City, TX — December 28, 2023, Ltredrick Roberts and two others were injured due to car accident that happened at around 2:30 a.m. along Denton Highway.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash occurred in the area of U.S. 377 and Browning Boulevard.

According to officials, 29-year-old Ltredrick Roberts and two others were in a Ford Taurus which was going northbound on Denton Highway. Their vehicle stopped for a red light at the Browning Boulevard intersection. While waiting, though, a Ford Explorer reportedly failed to slow down and rear-ended the Taurus.
As a result of the collision, Roberts and one of his passengers had apparently serious injuries. The other passenger in the vehicle with Roberts reportedly had moderate injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Something that stands out to me here is a factor I rarely see authorities address on their own: Why were the victims so seriously injured? It's unusual in a rear-end collision like this for the people in the front vehicle to be seriously injured—especially if they're in the front seats—while the people in the rear vehicle walk away unscathed. Could it be that something unusual happened here?
I'm reminded of this crash from a while back involving a woman seriously injured in a car accident. When accident reconstructionists looked into things, they found that the woman's injuries were unusually severe given that the impact happened at relatively low speeds. As it turned out, she had a defective airbag, meaning she would have been more or less okay had the airbag worked properly. Instead, she nearly died because of a defect she never knew about and authorities never even bothered looking for.
My hope is authorities handling this crash noticed the discrepancy between the injuries of the people involved here and provided a satisfactory explanation to those involved. If they didn't, they may be overlooking something important.
