21 Injured in Multi-vehicle Truck Accident on U.S. 84 in Jones County, MS
Jones County, MS — February 21, 2024, twenty-one people were injured in a multi-vehicle truck accident at approximately 6:30 a.m. along U.S. 84.
According to authorities, the accident took place between approximately twenty separate vehicles, two of which were reportedly 18-wheelers.
The causal factors that led to the crash are still unclear. Officials indicate that one of the two 18-wheelers—a logging truck—was allegedly overturned during the accident. News reports state that twenty-one people sustained injuries of varying severity as a result of the accident. At least ten of the injured victims were transported to local medical facilities by emergency medical services in order to receive treatment. At least nine injured victims were treated at the scene but refused to be transported for additional care.
The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were not specifically reported on; however, photographs of the scene when have been published in the mail depict apparently foggy conditions.
