Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Right now, authorities suggest that cell phone usage may have contributed to the crash. It's worth considering, though, if there's evidence to support that.
To be clear, I don't have specific information about this accident not already available to the public. It's just that authorities are sometimes too quick to jump to conclusions. Countless times, victims and families have asked our firm to look into serious accidents where they felt they weren't getting the whole story. Sometimes, we found authorities had ample evidence to support their statements. Other times, it turned out they just went with their gut instead of letting the evidence speak for itself.
So when I read about a crash like this, my reaction isn't to dismiss it, and it's not to take it at face value. It's simply to ask: How did authorities come to their conclusions?
