Yessenia Avila, Rogelio Avila Killed in 18-wheeler Accident in Fresno, CA
UPDATE (January 31, 2024): Reports now identify the victims killed in the crash as 20-year-old Yessenia Avila and her father, 50-year-old Rogelio Avila. Right now, additional details about the crash remain under investigation.
Fresno, CA — January 29, 2024, two people were killed following an 18-wheeler accident at around 7:45 a.m. along Chestnut Avenue.
Authorities said in initial statements that the crash happened during foggy conditions at the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Annadale Avenue.

According to officials, a pickup was traveling northbound on Chestnut at the time approaching Annadale. It appears a tractor-trailer was attempting to make a left turn off westbound Annadale to go southbound on Chestnut. It was across travel lanes of Chestnut when the pickup crashed into it.
As a result of the collision, a man and a woman in the pickup sustained fatal injuries. There were no other reported injuries. Authorities have not said at this time if they're considering charges. Investigations are ongoing.
