James Butts, Kyle Nettles Killed in Car Accident in Midland, TX
Midland, TX — April 25, 2023, James Butts and Kyle Nettles were killed as the result of a car accident at 6:54 a.m. along Briarwood Avenue.
Initial statements given by Midland Police Department investigators say that the crash occurred along the 7200 block of Briarwood (West County Road 60), which is just off N. County Road 1250, east of Highway 158.

According to preliminary investigations, it appears that 25-year-old James Michael Butts was the driver of a westbound vehicle going along Briarwood. Due to a series of events still under investigation, his vehicle and a Ford Fusion going eastbound crashed head-on with each other.
Due to the collision, Butts sustained fatal injuries. The Ford Fusion driver was identified in the news as 28-year-old Kyle Lee Nettles. Nettles also succumbed to fatal injuries, reports say. No others were said to be hurt, and it appears no one else was involved in the accident. Police officials say their investigations are ongoing at this time.
