4 Injured in Multi-vehicle Truck Accident on I.H. 79 near Fairmont, WV
Fairmont, WV — January 31, 2024, four people were injured in a multi-vehicle truck accident at approximately 8:00 a.m. along Interstate 79.
According to authorities, the accident took place in the northbound lanes of Interstate 79 in the vicinity southwest of Fairmont.
The causal factors that led to the accident are still unclear. Officials indicate that three separate vehicles were involved in the wreck: two passenger vehicles and an 18-wheeler. Two people were entrapped in their vehicles as a result of the crash and had to be extricated upon the arrival of emergency personnel. One victim incurred injuries serious enough to merit being flown to a local medical center for immediate treatment. Three other people also reportedly sustained injuries of unknown severity.
