Janet Garcia, Joel Garcia Injured in Car Accident in Hidalgo County, TX
Hidaglo County, TX — August 31, 2024, Janet Garcia and Joel Garcia were injured following a car accident at around 2:00 a.m. along Airport Drive.
According to officials, the crash took place in the area of the Airport Drive and 25th Street, south of Weslaco.

Investigators said that 36-year-old Janet Garcia and 36-year-old Joel Garcia were in a Hyundai Santa Fe going southbound on Airport. While rounding a curve, the vehicle somehow went off the side of the road where it overturned and crashed into a pole. Janet Garcia was reportedly seriously injured while Joel Garcia's injuries were called moderate.
Right now, additional details about the accident are unconfirmed. When it comes to single-vehicle wrecks, it's important to know whether or not authorities are taking the investigations seriously. They're not always seen as a high priority, and that can lead to authorities just assuming the driver did something wrong rather than actually letting the evidence speak for itself.
Was there a mechanical failure? Did a tire blow out? Is this a hazardous stretch of road in need of improvements? Did the driver experience a medical emergency? Was there another driver involved who left the scene? Likely or not, these things happen. If it's found authorities aren't really trying to consider all possibilities, it may be worth considering what they may have overlooked.
