Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With a serious crash like this, it's important to know what kind of attention the crash is actually getting. Authorities sometimes treat single-vehicle wrecks like a low priority. This can leave officers without the time or tools they need to do a proper, thorough accident reconstruction. As such, having independent investigators handle crashes like this is often prudent. They can either help to confirm everything authorities already know to reassure the family they're getting the full story, or they can catch important details authorities overlooked. Either way, it's crucial that the evidence is able to speak for itself.
