Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It's unfortunately common for OSHA to release so few details about a deadly work accident. What might surprise people to learn is just how often a sparse explanation like this is all the family gets to see, as well.
At the end of the day, OSHA has their own priorities to focus on, and that doesn't always align with the needs of a worker's loved ones. That's why many families have to rely on independent investigators to get them the answers they need and to help navigate Texas work fatality laws (which are the most complex in the country).
It would be good to hear if authorities were more thorough behind the scenes here to ensure the family got the resolution they deserved. However, it's not something I'd ever take for granted.
