Commentary
This early in the morning, people are no doubt going to jump to conclusions about what may have happened. There are certainly common possible factors that will need to be investigated. However, it's always important to make sure the evidence can speak for itself. After all, the victim isn't here to give their side of the story. Naturally, a family looking for answers may be concerned authorities aren't considering all possibilities. This is why it's often helpful to keep a few key questions in mind.
Are authorities taking enough time and using the right tools to make sure all possible factors get attention? Are they inspecting the vehicle for defects? Are they mapping out debris patterns? Have they pulled data from the vehicles involved? Are they taking steps to pull cell phone records? Are they searching nearby businesses for possible security cameras that had a view of the road?
In my experience, these are all crucial questions an independent accident reconstruction covers. Authorities are capable of this, as well, but sometimes they end up moving on to other responsibilities too quickly or jumping to conclusions. So if authorities aren't able to answer these kinds of questions in a way that alleviates a family's doubts and concerns, then it may be that their efforts alone aren't going to cut it.
