Rison, AR — July 23, 2022, Alejandro Morales Navarrete Jr. was killed due to a work accident involving a forklift at 2:30 p.m. along Niven Road.
Preliminary details provided by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration show that Hixson Lumber Company was the subject of their investigations.

It appears that 18-year-old Alejandro Morales Navarrete Jr. had been operating a forklift before apparently dropping a key. Details in the news suggest that Morales Navarrete got out of the forklift and was looking for the key. While doing so, the forklift apparently rolled into him, causing what was described as "severe head trauma". Due to the injuries, Morales Navarrete died as a result of the accident. Two of the eight alleged violations were listed as "willful," and current records show potential penalties recommended to be $218,759. The current status of the investigations is unclear at this time.
