Bexar County, TX — November 1, 2025, Aliana Cantu and another person were injured due to a car accident just after 2:00 a.m. along Cincinnati Avenue.
According to authorities, 19-year-old Aliana Cantu was traveling in an eastbound Mitsubishi Outlander on Cincinnati Avenue at the Wilson Boulevard intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, a head-on collision occurred between the Outlander and a westbound Toyota Highlander occupied by a 37-year-old man.
Cantu reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. The man from the Highlander suffered minor injuries, as well, according to reports.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Head-on collisions often raise immediate questions about lane positioning, but those questions rarely get full answers without looking well beyond the point of impact. Especially in overnight crashes, the need for deeper investigation becomes even more critical.
1. Did the authorities thoroughly investigate the crash?
To understand how two vehicles ended up in a head-on collision, investigators need to determine which vehicle crossed the center line—and why. That means reviewing physical evidence like tire marks, debris patterns, and final rest positions of both vehicles. Was the scene laser-mapped to preserve key measurements? Did officers document whether either vehicle had attempted to brake or steer away? Without this level of precision, the official version of events may rely too heavily on assumptions or incomplete statements.
2. Has anyone looked into the possibility that a vehicle defect caused the crash?
A sudden mechanical failure—steering loss, brake malfunction, or electronic stability control issues—can result in unintended lane departures. That applies to both vehicles. If either the Outlander or the Highlander experienced a system fault, it could explain the collision in ways that aren’t obvious from the wreckage alone. A full mechanical inspection is necessary to uncover whether the equipment contributed to the crash, but those reviews don’t always happen unless they’re specifically requested.
3. Has all the electronic data relating to the crash been collected?
Both vehicles likely hold critical telemetry—steering angle, braking input, throttle position, and speed at the time of impact. That data can verify lane positioning and driver response. In addition, GPS records, mobile phone data, or nearby security footage may provide visual confirmation of vehicle paths or distraction. If this digital evidence isn’t gathered and reviewed, the investigation risks missing the most reliable account of what occurred.
A head-on crash is rarely just about who was where. It’s about what led up to that moment—and whether the systems and data that could explain it have been properly examined.
Takeaways:
- Precise scene documentation is key to determining how a head-on collision occurred.
- Vehicle defects can lead to sudden lane departures and should be ruled out.
- Electronic data from both vehicles can clarify timing, speed, and driver input.
