1 Injured in Alleged Drunk Driver Accident on Edgemere Boulevard in El Paso, TX
El Paso, TX — March 15, 2025, one person was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 1:30 a.m. on Edgemere Boulevard.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2016 GMC Terrain was heading west when it crashed into a 1998 Ford Mustang that was going south on Joe Battle Boulevard.
The Mustang driver, a 23-year-old man whose name has not been made public yet, suffered serious injuries in the crash, according to the report.
The GMC driver, who was not injured, was charged with driving while intoxicated after the crash, the report states.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the crash.

When I read about incidents like this one, what stands out to me isn’t just what happened, but what’s missing from the conversation: the role alcohol may have played, and how that responsibility is often shared. While the alleged drunk driver has been charged, it's worth asking whether that’s the full story, or just the most visible part of it.
One of the most important but often overlooked questions in cases like this is, “Where did the driver get their alcohol?” If a bar, restaurant or other alcohol-serving business continued to serve someone who was clearly intoxicated, Texas law holds that provider accountable under what’s known as dram shop liability. That accountability exists not to punish businesses, but to help prevent drunk driving injuries and ensure those harmed have every opportunity to seek answers and justice.
Moments like these are reminders that drunk driving isn’t always a simple matter of personal failure. It can involve systemic blind spots, especially in how alcohol is served and monitored. When someone is seriously hurt, it’s critical to consider whether an alcohol provider contributed to the danger on the road.
Here are a few important things to keep in mind:
- Dram shop law exists to hold alcohol providers accountable when they serve someone who is obviously intoxicated and that person goes on to cause harm.
