Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
If authorities were able to confirm that alcohol led to this crash, have they found out where that alcohol came from? Authorities too often overlook the possibility that a drunk driving accident involved a local alcohol provider who may have unlawfully over-served the drunk driver. Texas law says alcohol providers who unlawfully serve someone and contribute to people getting hurt can be held responsible. But if the investigations never extended beyond the crash scene, that all may have slipped through the cracks.
