Anya Collins Injured in Single-car Accident on U.S. 287 in Arlington, TX
Tarrant County, TX — September 22, 2024, Anya Collins was injured following a single-car accident at approximately 4:00 a.m. along U.S. Highway 287.
According to authorities, 20-year-old Anya Collins was traveling in a northbound Nissan Sentra on U.S. 287 in the vicinity north of Sublett Road when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Nissan failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered left, colliding with the guardrail in the median separating the north and southbound lanes of the highway. The vehicle apparently came to a stop facing southbound in the far right of the two northbound lanes.
Collins suffered serious injuries over the course of the accident, according to reports, and was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When single-vehicle accidents result in serious injuries, as in the case of Anya Collins, a thorough investigation is essential to uncover what caused the crash. In my experience, these incidents require answers to three critical questions: Did the authorities conduct a comprehensive investigation? Has anyone explored whether mechanical issues or external factors contributed? And has all available electronic data been preserved for review?
In a crash like this, where a vehicle veered into a median guardrail, authorities may naturally focus on driver error as a potential cause. However, it’s critical not to overlook other factors that could explain why the Nissan Sentra left its lane. Investigators should look into whether environmental conditions, such as poor lighting, road debris, or even wildlife, may have contributed to the accident. Additionally, checking for signs of impaired driving or fatigue is a necessary part of the investigation.
Mechanical issues with the vehicle also warrant careful examination. Failures in the steering system, brakes, or tires could have made it difficult for the driver to maintain control of the car. If a mechanical defect was involved, identifying it could have significant implications not just for Ms. Collins, but for others who may face similar risks. A detailed inspection of the vehicle should be conducted to rule out or confirm these possibilities.
Preserving and reviewing electronic evidence is another critical step. The vehicle’s Event Data Recorder (EDR), often referred to as the “black box,” may hold key details such as the car’s speed, steering inputs, and braking activity leading up to the crash. Nearby traffic cameras or private surveillance systems could also provide footage that helps clarify what occurred.
Accidents like this one, where Anya Collins suffered serious injuries, demand a meticulous investigation to uncover every contributing factor. By addressing these questions, investigators can provide a clear picture of what happened and why. For Ms. Collins and her loved ones, obtaining these answers is a vital step toward clarity and closure.
