Ariana Pitts Killed in Car Accident in Jefferson County, TX
Jefferson County, TX — August 30, 2024, Ariana Pitts was killed as the result of a car accident at around 10:10 p.m. along Interstate 10.
Authorities say that the crash happened off eastbound lanes of I-10 about halfway between Beaumont and Winnie.

According to officials, 30-year-old Ariana Pitts was in a Kia Rio going eastbound along I-10. The vehicle somehow left its lane, crashing into the end of a guardrail. As a result, the guardrail reportedly went through the vehicle, hitting and killing Pitts. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the crash. Additional details can't be confirmed right now.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
I certainly don't know more specific information than what's already public, but with any accident involving a guardrail, it's important investigators analyze the railing itself for possible defects. Simply put, there are times where guardrails are supposed to warp and deflect away from a vehicle's cabin space, but a manufacturing defect causes it to instead penetrate a vehicle, often hitting victims who might have otherwise survived the accident. Like I said, I can't say if that happened here. However, if authorities aren't even considering this possibility, they might miss something important the victim's loved ones deserve to know.
