Commentary
Something that people don't often consider with gas explosions is they need to extend beyond the scene of the explosion itself. Sometimes, they can be the result of persistent issues with an energy company or one of their contractors failing to adequately maintain gas lines in the area. Other times, gas leaks can be caused by botched installations or defective appliances. All of these possibilities can be the result of widespread issues that may put other lives at risk if the problems aren't brought to light.
So as important as it is for investigations to explain what led to this incident, it's important investigations also verify whether the problems extend beyond this single house. Getting a family help and seeing accountability if necessary are obviously important. Steps can also be taken, though to ensure other families aren't harmed by the same issues.
