Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With any hit-and-run, one of the most important things authorities can do is release as much information to the public as possible. Often, someone is able to connect the dots and come forward to identify the driver. Then, steps can be taken to find out why the driver left the scene, as there's usually something they were trying to hide from authorities besides the accident itself. Even weeks or months following an accident, there's still hope of reaching a conclusion.
