Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With a situation like this, it's important to make sure investigators have the tools and experience to do a careful analysis of the boat that the fuel leaked from. It could have been damage the vessel sustained, botched installation, a lack of maintenance, or even a serious defect that may be putting others at risk. Getting victims and families the answers they need is always a priority, but it's just as important to make sure there aren't existing issues continuing to put lives in danger.
