Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
A common challenge to be aware of following any single-vehicle wreck is authorities don't always prioritize them very highly. This can result in inexperienced officers being left in charge of complex accidents or otherwise skilled and dedicated officers being forced to work with limited tools or time. Either way, important details might slips through the cracks if a department isn't giving serious car accidents the attention they need.
In my experience, that's why many victims and families seek out independent professionals in the first place. Authorities can't reassure them that they're getting all the facts, so they look for outside help that can fill in the blanks and make sure nothing important goes overlooked. Maybe authorities here have been thorough enough that those steps won't be necessary. However, it wouldn't be unusual if this was yet another serious car wreck that needed more than one set of eyes looking things over.
