3 Injured in Car Accident on Liveoak Drive in Johnson City, TX
Johnson City, TX — December 28, 2024, three people sustained injuries as the result of a car accident at around 11:49 p.m. on Liveoak Drive.
According to initial details about the accident, it took place off the corner of Liveoak Drive and Elm Street, just south of Main Street.

Investigators said that a 23-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were passengers in a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man. They were traveling southbound when the vehicle apparently crashed off the side of the road.
Due to the accident, the drive and the woman in the vehicle had serious injuries. The other passenger had less serious injuries. Right now, authorities mentioned alcohol as a possible factor, but details can't be confirmed at this time.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It's possible evidence will show there were factors here besides alcohol that led to the crash. However, if alcohol was a factor, there could be more to this situation that even authorities have yet to address. Many alcohol-related accidents involve negligent alcohol providers who can be responsible if they unlawfully over-served the driver. This can expose them to potential criminal investigations, fines, or liability for the injuries resulting from that intoxication.
Unfortunately, this isn't often somethings authorities prioritize. They tend to be more focused on drivers who they can charge. Meanwhile, there are people in need of help who don't realize there was a local alcohol provider who isn't being held accountable for their role in the victims' injuries. I've handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers, and I've lost count of how many times authorities more or less ignored them once they had a driver facing charges.
So while it's not confirmed right now what all led to this accident, there are familiar red flags that concern me. Authorities may be able to show they've been thorough and fair in their investigations, but thorough independent investigations might show otherwise.
