Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
The video of this was quite shocking, and it seemed clear the pickup was completely out of control before slamming into the business. That could lead people to jump to conclusions, but it's important that even unlikely possible factors get attention. The vehicle may have had defects. The brakes may have gone out. The driver may have experienced a medical emergency. The vehicle might have hit something in the road. The condition of the road itself may have contributed to the crash. If authorities can't confidently rule out these sorts of possibilities, they risk missing something important.
