Chandler Hawhee Injured in Car Accident in Covington, TX
Hill County, TX — April 19, 2025, Chandler Hawhee was injured as the result of a car accident at around 8:23 p.m. along Highway 171.
Preliminary statements from authorities say the accident took place just off Wier Avenue on the south side of town.
It appears that 27-year-old Chandler Hawhee was in a Nissan Sentra going northbound along the highway. For reasons not confirmed, the vehicle left its lane, and it crashed off the side of the road. Due to the accident, Chandler Hawhee was reportedly seriously injured.
There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident. No further information about the accident is available at this time.

When it comes to single-vehicle accidents, there should always be some thought for whether or not the accident is getting the attention it needs. They're not always seen as a high priority, which sometimes leads to haphazard investigations. People generally want to know that their side of the story will be told fairly, which is why I've found it helpful to consider a few key questions.
First, did investigators have the time and resources they needed to properly document the crash scene? Not every department is equipped for in-depth reconstruction, and sometimes officers are pulled to other duties too quickly. Without detailed measurements, photos, and observations, important facts can be lost.
Second, has anyone looked into whether a vehicle defect could have contributed to the crash? Things like brake failure, steering problems, or tire issues can all cause a driver to lose control. And when safety features like airbags or seatbelts fail to perform, injuries can be far more severe. These aren’t always obvious without a detailed inspection.
Lastly, has all available electronic crash data been preserved? Most modern vehicles store valuable pre-crash information—like speed, braking, and steering input—that can help paint a clearer picture of what happened. But that data can disappear quickly if it’s not retrieved in time.
If these questions aren't being answered, then that could be a sign that authorities aren't giving the investigations proper attention. That can then give victims and families an opportunity to seek out independent investigations that may catch important details authorities overlooked.
