Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Any crash involving a large truck is going to present unique challenges. The scenes can be rather chaotic, and the involvement of a government entity can bring on additional hoops that victims and families may need to jump through to get clear answers and a fair resolution. This only makes it that much more crucial to ensure the investigations are as thorough as possible.
What were road conditions? Were there visibility issues? Did vehicle defects play a role? Have authorities pulled cell phone records and vehicle data from both drivers involved? Was there video footage of the crash, either from a dash cam or a nearby business or residence? Did authorities map out the debris and reconstruct the conditions of the accident?
If authorities aren't asking these kinds of questions, they may be letting something important slip through the cracks. It's important folks are aware of the efforts of authorities so they can seek out a second set of eyes if they feel they're not getting the answers they deserve.
