Commentary
A serious concern with just about any single-vehicle wreck is whether or not it received thorough investigations. In my experience, authorities don't always treat these situations as a high priority, and that can lead to important details slipping through the cracks unless there are safety nets in place to catch those details.
For example, I handled a case not long ago where a family was worried that authorities mishandled their loved one's accident. In their reports, they mentioned the victim hadn't been wearing a seatbelt. However, the family knew the victim always wore their seatbelt, so that didn't add up. Thanks to more thorough investigations from experienced, independent accident reconstructionists, we found out the victim had a defective seatbelt. It failed to lock properly during the accident. As a result, the victim ended up suffering serious injuries that a proper functional seatbelt could have prevented.
I'm not saying anything like that happened here, but that was a huge details authorities completely overlooked. I wish I could say oversights like that were rare, but they're pretty common, especially with single-vehicle wrecks where authorities may be especially quick to move on without considering all of the facts. Perhaps authorities here have been more thorough, but it's best not to take that for granted.
