Del Valle Man Injured in Motorcycle vs. Truck Accident on Caldwell Ln. in Garfield, TX
Travis County, TX — February 28, 2025, a motorcyclist was injured in a truck accident shortly after 8:45 a.m. along Caldwell Lane.
According to authorities, a 21-year-old man from Del Valle was traveling on a southwest bound Yamaha motorcycle on Caldwell Lane in the vicinity southwest of River Timber Drive when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northeast bound Kenworth truck with a trailer in tow attempted a left turn at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic. This resulted in a collision between the motorcycle and the truck.
The motorcyclist reportedly suffered serious injuries over the course of the accident. It does not appear that anyone else was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary
When a truck makes a left turn across the path of an oncoming motorcycle, the key question isn’t just what happened, but why it happened. In my experience handling truck accident cases, wrecks like this rarely occur without multiple contributing factors that need to be examined.
Why did the truck driver attempt the turn at an unsafe time? Professional drivers are trained to wait for a safe and clear gap in traffic before turning, especially when crossing the path of oncoming vehicles. Investigators should determine whether the driver misjudged the motorcycle’s speed, failed to see the motorcyclist altogether, or simply made a poor decision under pressure. Reviewing dashcam footage, black box data, and driver statements could help clarify the driver’s actions.
Did the size and handling of the truck contribute? Kenworth trucks hauling trailers require more time and space to turn, and they may block lanes longer than expected during the maneuver. If the driver underestimated how long it would take to complete the turn, the oncoming motorcyclist may have had no opportunity to avoid a collision. Investigators should examine turn timing, trailer length, and impact location.
Was the truck being used for commercial purposes? If this was a business operation, investigators also need to evaluate whether the driver was properly trained, following company procedures, and operating within the limits of applicable safety regulations. Reviewing company safety policies, training records, and vehicle maintenance logs could reveal whether broader operational issues played a role in the crash.
At the end of the day, the most important thing is finding answers. Even if it takes an independent investigation to gather the right evidence, it’s critical to examine every factor to ensure those affected by the crash get the clarity they deserve.
