Dennis Smith Killed in Motorcycle Truck Accident on S.H. 53 in Bell County, TX
Bell County, TX — March 5, 2024, Dennis Smith was killed in a motorcycle versus truck accident just after 6:00 a.m. along State Highway 53.
According to authorities, 61-year-old Dennis Smith was traveling on a northbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle on S.H. 53 approaching the S.H. 320 intersection when the accident occurred.
The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been foggy and wet. An 18-wheeler was reportedly at a stop at the stop sign facing westbound on S.H. 53 in preparation of making a turn onto the southbound highway. Officials indicate that, likely due to the foggy conditions, the truck pulled out into the intersection at an unsafe time. This resulted in a collision between the motorcycle and the 18-wheeler. Smith, who had incurred fatal injuries due to the wreck, was declared deceased at the scene. No other injuries have been reported.
