Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It might seem like authorities would have no problem determining who had the right-of-way at the time of a crash. Sometimes, though, officers just don't have the time to do a proper investigation, and they might move on without getting the whole story.
For example, I handled a case not long ago where the drivers were left high and dry to sort things out themselves. It took us coming in and finding a nearby store with a camera to clear up who actually ran the light. The authorities simply missed that crucial piece of evidence, and it could have been lost forever without more thorough independent investigations.
It's possible similar evidence was overlooked here and could help shed light on what happened here if authorities didn't already get an explanation themselves.
