Doroteo Martinez Killed in Hit-and-run Accident in Livingston, TX
Polk County, TX — April 18, 2024, Doroteo Martinez was killed as the result of a hit-and-run accident at around 2:49 a.m. along US Highway 59.
Investigators said that the incident took place in the area of US 59 and West Church Street.
According to officials, 41-year-old Doroteo Martinez was on a bicycle along the side of northbound US 59. While doing so, police say a vehicle struck Doroteo Martinez, then left the scene. Doroteo Martinez sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
A description for the runaway vehicle is not currently available.

If authorities never located the driver involved here, it's reasonable to ask if they ever release as much information as they could publicly. A lot of the time when a runaway driver gets caught, it's because someone was able to connect dots that authorities couldn't. But that requires authorities reaching out to the community and getting their help. I'm not sure if that ever happened here.
