Newburg, MD — January 16, 2025, a woman was injured following a dump truck accident at approximately 10:30 a.m. along Rock Point Road.

According to authorities, the accident took place at the Crain Highway and Rock Point Road intersection.

When a dump truck is involved in a T-bone collision at an intersection, the key question isn’t just what happened, but why it happened. In my experience handling truck accident cases, wrecks like this often have multiple contributing factors that aren’t immediately obvious from the scene alone.

Did either driver fail to yield the right-of-way? Many T-bone crashes happen when one vehicle enters an intersection at the wrong time. Investigators should examine traffic signals, stop signs, and right-of-way rules to determine whether one of the drivers ignored a signal or misjudged the timing of their turn. Reviewing surveillance footage and eyewitness statements could help clarify who had the legal right to proceed.

Was the dump truck driver paying full attention? Large commercial vehicles require more time and distance to slow down, making it critical that drivers remain aware of their surroundings. If the truck driver didn’t react in time to avoid the crash, investigators should determine whether distraction played a role by reviewing phone records, dashcam footage, and in-cab data.
