Commentary by Michael Grossman
People tend to think car accidents are simple just because they are common. In my experience, though, victims and families often find themselves with unanswered questions even when authorities "finish" their reports. Sometimes, accidents are just seen as a low priority, so it takes more thorough independent investigations to bring the rest of the story to light. Other times, authorities are able to clear everything up on their own. Either way, victims and families need to be sure they're getting the whole story if they want to get a fair resolution.
