Commentary
As open-and-shut as these reports seem, it's always important to have as much evidence in-hand as possible. In my experience across decades of handling serious car accidents, the ones who have the most evidence telling their side of the story tend to be the ones with the best outcomes. It's not often police investigators do all of that on their own, so it's possible there's a lot more to this story than the preliminary reports suggest.
