Two Killed, One Injured in 18-wheeler Accident on I-15 in Payson, UT
Utah County, UT — January 4, 2024, two people were killed and one was injured following an 18-wheeler accident at around 1:20 a.m. on I-15.
The Utah Department of Public Safety released preliminary information on the crash. According to their statements, the crash happened in the area of Payson near mile marker 248, just off Highway 178.

According to officials, three people were in a Honda Civic going northbound along the interstate. Up ahead, there was a prior accident involving an 18-wheeler. Authorities said the 18-wheeler had somehow lost control, causing the semi to swerve and ultimately roll over and block multiple travel lanes. As it blocked traffic, the Honda crashed into the overturned semi-trailer.
The crash resulted in the deaths of the Honda driver and one of the passengers. The other passenger had injuries described as critical. The truck driver had apparently minor injuries. Right now, additional details about the crash, including possible charges or citations, are unavailable.
