Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Police seem pretty clear that the pickup involved in this was on the wrong side of the road. Some photos from Montgomery County Police Reporter might even show evidence to support that. One would think that would result in immediate charges of some kind. Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents don't always get the attention they deserve.
A lot of people are negatively biased against riders. So even if someone else does something wrong, investigations might get caught up in trying to put blame on the riders, too. That's why accident like this sometimes fare better when in the hands of independent investigators. By setting bias aside and letting the evidence speak for itself, there can be a clear understanding of what happened, why it happened, and who's responsible.
