Commentary
There are certainly more questions than answers here, and that's not likely to change even when the cause of the accident becomes clear. Families who lose a loved one in a work accident often find out that Texas has the most complex work fatality laws in the whole country. Why is that?
There isn't always an automatic process for getting families a fair conclusion, as people tend to assume. A lot of the time, families have to navigate a legal maze, and OSHA and the authorities generally have their own priorities to focus on. As such, it's important going forward that families have the clear evidence from the incident and the tools needed to navigate whatever challenges lie ahead. Those proactive steps can make all the difference for folks affected by fatal work accidents like this.
