Francisco Bazan Killed in Alleged Homicide in Bexar County, TX
Bexar County, TX — April 30, 2025, Francisco Bazan was killed due to an alleged homicide that happened around 2:45 a.m. at the Bexar County Jail.

Authorities say that 46-year-old Francisco Bazan was an inmate at Bexar County Jail. It's alleged right now that a detention deputy allowed multiple other inmates to assault Francisco Bazan. As a result, Bazan reportedly died due to blunt force trauma.
Right now, Texas Rangers say they arrested the deputy in question for alleged murder. Other charges are pending as investigations continue.
Commentary
If the allegations here are true, all I can think about when reading about this incident is just how horrific it is that someone in state custody should have this happen to him. Beyond that, one person allegedly responsible for it was an official whose job it is to prevent this type of incident. It will be important going forward for authorities to ensure they handle these investigations delicately and make sure all proper steps are taken to get answers.
