3 Killed, 2 Injured in Head-on Car Accident on S.H. 16 in Jim Hogg County, TX
Jim Hogg County, TX — August 23, 2024, three people were killed and two were injured in a head-on car accident that took place along State Highway 16.
According to authorities, two people were traveling in an eastbound Ford passenger car on S.H. 16 when the accident occurred.

At the same time, a Ford F-150 occupied by three people—one of which was an infant—was traveling westbound. The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a head-on collision happened between the two vehicles. The passenger vehicle reportedly burst into flames as a result of the wreck. The two people who had been inside suffered fatal injuries and were declared deceased at the scene.
The three victims from the pickup truck all sustained critical injuries, as well. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. However, the person who had been behind the wheel of the pickup was ultimately unable to overcome the severity of their injuries, having later been declared deceased. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
