Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With statements like these, people may assume this all is an open-and-shut situation. The reality is all car accidents can prove complex, and assuming otherwise can result in serious oversights. I get calls all the time from folks who waited around for authorities to get them answers only to end up with too little evidence to tell their side of the story properly. That's one of the reasons independent investigations tend to prove more helpful, and they can help ensure that nothing important slips through the cracks. Hopefully steps were taken early on to make sure all the facts surrounding this crash were preserved so the victims involved could use them as needed.
