Jake Anderson Injured in Alleged Drunk Driver Accident in Sachse, TX
Collin County, TX — July 27, 2024, Jake Anderson was injured following an alleged drunk driver accident at around 9:30 p.m. along Highway 78.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened at the intersection of Highway 78 and Country Club Drive.
Investigators said that 22-year-old Jake Allen Anderson and a 22-year-old woman were in a Nissan Frontier going southbound on the highway. While doing so, a Ford F-150 reportedly driving erratically crashed into Anderson's Nissan from behind. Due to this, Anderson sustained serious injuries. The woman in the Nissan had potential but unconfirmed injuries.

The driver of the Ford F-150 had allegedly been drinking, and authorities recommended a charge for intoxication assault. If that's true, did authorities look into where the driver was coming from? Anytime alcohol leads to a crash, investigations need to be able to determine if that driver was illegally over-served by a local alcohol provider. Those establishments can face their own consequences whenever they contribute to a serious accident like this.
Simply put, it's illegal in Texas for bars and other establishments to serve someone who is obviously intoxicated. Doing so exposes them to potential criminal investigations, fines, license suspensions, and even liability for the resulting injuries. The problem, though, is this isn't the sort of thing authorities are typically motivated to investigate on their own. I've handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers, many of which where we were the only ones investigating the actions of those establishments to see they were held accountable.
Perhaps this all doesn't apply to this crash, or perhaps authorities here are being more thorough than usual. It's important to keep in mind, though, that every moment counts when seeing wrongdoers held accountable for their actions. If authorities haven't already taken steps to investigate the possibility of a complicit alcohol provider here, then the accident likely needs to be put in the hands of investigators who will.
