Something that stood out in one of the news reports on this crash is a concern that multiple trucks have crashed in this area. Is that something that's on the authorities' radar to investigate? While something like hazardous road design isn't as common as things like driver error, it's important investigations are thorough enough to at least rule out these possibilities. After all, if there really is something wrong with this stretch of road, it could be putting others in danger.
Besides that, a thorough investigation should include these sorts of below-the-surface details anyway. Was there a vehicle defect? A cargo shift? Road hazards? A medical emergency? A tire blowout? Issues relating to dangerous working conditions, such as long hours or unreasonable deadlines? I've handled hundreds of commercial vehicle accident cases, and it would shock people how often these factors go completely overlooked.
That's why it's important to gauge what steps authorities are taking to investigate the accident. If they're covering as many possible factors as possible, that's a good sign. If they're barely scratching the surface, though, they could be missing something important.
