Joseph Brandon Cortez Injured in Car Accident in Abilene, TX
Abilene, TX — January 16, 2024, Joseph Brandon Cortez was injured as the result of a single-vehicle car accident at around 11:15 p.m. on South 7th Street.
According to initial details released about the crash, it happened just off the corner of the South 7th Street and Blair Street intersection, west of Willis Street.

Officials said that 41-year-old Joseph Cortez was in a Mazda 6 going westbound along South 7th Street. The vehicle apparently lost control, possibly after hitting a dip in the roadway. The vehicle ran off the side of the road where it crashed into a tree outside of a nearby home.
Due to the crash, Cortez sustained serious injuries. There did not appear to be anyone else in the vehicle with Cortez. At this time, no further information about the crash can be confirmed.
