Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
This soon after a devastating crash, it's important to ensure all facts are considered before jumping to conclusions. Early reports rarely tell the whole story, and a victim's loved ones shouldn't have to wade through a bunch of speculation to get the answers they deserve.
Part of that means following up with the authorities early on. If it seems they're working to address the family's concerns and give a fair look at all possible contributing factors, that's a good sign. But if it seems like authorities themselves are jumping to conclusions and not looking into why this all happened, independent investigators may need to step in to get the full story.
