Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Whenever it comes to motorcycle accidents, I have a primary concern: Are authorities being fair and unbiased in their investigations? Unfortunately, a lot of people have a negative view of motorcyclists, and this can lead them to jump to conclusions. Even authorities are not immune to this. It makes it that much more important for investigations to focus on the facts and let the evidence speak for itself.
Authorities sometimes to do this, but it would surprise folks how often I get calls from families because authorities all but brushed an accident aside and moved on without doing a proper accident reconstruction. Maybe that wasn't what happened here, but it's important that victims and families always consider possible alternative avenues in the event they feel their situation is being taken too lightly. That way, they can take steps forward with as much evidence fighting for their side as possible.
