Kim Nguyen Injured in Single-car Accident on U.S. 290 in Travis County, TX
Signal Hill, TX — November 17, 2025, Kim Nguyen was injured due to a single-car accident at approximately 2:00 a.m. along U.S. Highway 290.
According to authorities, 25-year-old Kim Nguyen was traveling in a northeast bound Lexus on U.S. Highway 290 just southwest of the Rim Rock Trail intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Lexus failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently crashed into a ditch and overturned.
Nguyen reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When a vehicle leaves the roadway and overturns in the middle of the night, it’s often framed as a loss of control with no further explanation. But when someone is seriously injured, it's not enough to stop at the assumption. A single-vehicle crash like this raises important questions about what truly caused the vehicle to veer off course.
Did the authorities thoroughly investigate the crash?
At 2:00 a.m., visibility is limited, traffic is sparse, and witnesses are rare. That makes it even more important for investigators to thoroughly analyze the scene. Did they document skid marks, yaw patterns, or any signs of sudden steering or braking? Was there evidence the driver tried to avoid something in the roadway? Without a proper reconstruction, there's a real risk that conclusions will be drawn without enough evidence to support them.
Has anyone looked into the possibility that a vehicle defect caused the crash?
A vehicle drifting out of its lane could indicate more than just driver error. A malfunction in the Lexus’s steering, braking, or electronic stability systems could lead to a sudden loss of control. Tire failure or suspension issues could also cause the vehicle to veer and roll. These problems don’t leave obvious signs without a mechanical inspection—something that often doesn’t happen unless someone pushes for it.
Has all the electronic data relating to the crash been collected?
The Lexus likely holds valuable onboard data that can show what happened in the seconds before the crash—steering input, speed, brake use, and throttle position. If Nguyen attempted to steer back into the lane or applied the brakes and the car didn’t respond properly, that information could be the key to understanding what happened. GPS data and any connected phone logs could also help verify the timeline and vehicle behavior before the wreck.
A late-night crash like this deserves more than vague explanations. The answers are out there—but only if someone looks in the right places.
- Single-vehicle crashes at night need detailed scene reconstruction to rule out missed factors.
- Mechanical or electronic failures may cause sudden lane departures and must be inspected.
- Vehicle data can clarify whether the driver acted—and whether the vehicle responded.
