Mabank Man Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on I-30 in Bowie County, TX
Bowie County, TX — August 30, 2024, a Mabank man sustained injuries following a semi-truck accident at around 10:04 p.m. along Interstate 30.
Investigators said that the incident took place along eastbound lanes of the interstate near County Road 4107 west of New Boston.

According to officials, a 34-year-old Mabank man and Jerry Morris were in or around a truck pulling a trailer which stopped along the right shoulder of I-30. While the Mabank man was reportedly checking on the trailer, a passing 18-wheeler struck the man. That truck did not remain on the scene.
Due to the collision, the Mabank man sustained serious injuries. It does not appear that Jerry Morris was hurt. It's unclear at this time if authorities were able to identify the 18-wheeler.

It's possible authorities have learned more since their initial public statements. If not, though, there could still be an opportunity to utilize the public in the search for the truck driver who left the scene. I had a case not long ago, for example, where we put out public reports that a couple came across. They called and were able to provide us with a runaway truck driver's plate numbers and description. Somehow, authorities just forgot to follow up with them, but the continued public pressure helped finally identify the truck driver so the family could finally see some accountability and closure. I don't see any reason right now why similar efforts wouldn't be helpful if authorities are still looking for new details.
