Commentary
Single-vehicle wrecks can be a lot more complex than people may realize. They can involve all kinds of things, from road hazards to tire failure to fatigue to mechanical defects. It can take a lot of effort, experience, and special tools to properly preserve evidence. Frankly, those aren't things authorities are always able or motivated to provide.
I've been handling serious car accident cases for over thirty years. It would shock folks how often I get calls from people affected by a single-vehicle wreck. Sometimes, they find authorities aren't giving them answers. Other times, the answers they're getting don't add up. And other times, they may feel like authorities were so focused on finding someone to blame that they didn't consider the victim's side of the story.
Sometimes, independent investigations will show that authorities did their due diligence, and they already know all there is to know. A lot of the time, though, a proper accident reconstruction can show authorities missed a lot of important information. Either way, it should always be a priority to ensure victims and families involved in a serious accident at least know they've been treated fairly. That's not likely to happen if investigators aren't willing to consider the possibility something unusual caused the crash.
