Marilyn Darst, 1 Injured in Truck Accident in Jacksonville, TX
Jacksonville, TX — December 18, 2023, Marilyn Darst and one other person were injured in a truck accident at approximately 5:40 p.m. along U.S. 79, Rusk Street.
According to reports, 82-year-old Marilyn Darst was traveling in a northbound GMC Yucon on Cash Street at the Rusk Street intersection when the accident took place.
The GMC was attempting to make a left turn into the westbound lanes of the highway. For reasons yet to be confirmed, the Yucon attempted the maneuver at an unsafe time, resulting in a collision with an eastbound 18-wheeler. Authorities indicate, however, that the 18-wheeler may have been traveling without its headlights engaged, making it difficult to be seen in the dusk lighting conditions. Darst incurred suspected serious injuries due to the crash; she was transported to a local medical facility in order to receive immediate treatment. The driver of the 18-wheeler also sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported by EMS for treatment.
